Hands to Work and Hearts to God!
VISION: We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world, and as part of the one body of Christ we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomes us.
MISSION: We will develop relationships in and through faith. In this we fulfill the conditions and commands of Matthew 28:16-20—“Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. When they saw him, they worshipped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’
CORE BELIEFS:
1. The Lord’s Supper, or Communion, is celebrated in weekly worship, and it is open to all who have confessed Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and are walking in obedience to the Word.
2. All Christian’s are called to be one in Christ and to seek opportunities for common witness and service. This we feel begins in worship, is matured by discipleship, and continues throughout our lives, no matter what age.
3. In baptism, the old self-centered life is set aside, washed away, and a new life of faith and obedience in God begins. Although Disciples practice baptism by immersion, other baptism traditions are honored in transfer of membership.
4. The Bible is God’s inerrant, infallible truth, equipping the Church with direction in mission and spiritual food for each person’s growth and maturity in the Christian faith. We fulfill this by our many educational opportunities in Sunday School, Fellowship groups, and Bible studies.
5. Both, ministers and lay persons, lead in worship, service, and spiritual growth. Men, women and youth are encouraged to serve in all facets of congregational life.
6. As Disciples, we are called together around two essentials of faith: a belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and that Christians are to follow the instructions found in the Bible, revealed by the Holy Spirit, and dedicated to prayer.
Missions: We currently extend helping hands to these local charities: Home for the Night (a homeless shelter), and the Kokomo Rescue Mission. Beyond our locality we extend ourselves through participating our denomination’s 6 special day offerings which state, regional, national and international endeavors of evangelism and help in times of crisis. We also make personal contact through specific and focused mission trips and retreats.
All are welcome to join us!
